Medium-sized scratches and chips often need more paint than a pen can provide — especially on wide scuffs, bumper corners, or deeper chips. Our 2 oz Brush Bottle gives you enough coverage and control to blend repairs smoothly while still keeping the process simple for DIY users.

Each bottle includes a built-in brush for detailed touch-ups, and the paint is mixed fresh to your [MAKE] factory color code for an exact match. Use it to restore larger rock chips, door edge scrapes, and medium-length scratches. Finish with Clearcoat to restore original gloss and protect the repair from weather and UV damage.

Tricoat paints are unique because a basecoat is topped with a sheer midcoat, creating a deeper, more complex color. Finish with Clearcoat to protect your repair and match the original shine.

This color is compatible with the following [MAKE]s:

Models: [MODELS]
Years: [YEARS]

To determine if [COLOR] is the correct color, check your vehicle's color code. It should match the paint color code, which is [CODE].

Better, Cheaper, Faster!

The primer, touch up paint, clear coat and tack cloth arrived within the specified delivery time. I should have ordered more than one primer spray can since I had more to paint than just the bumper though unknown at the time of ordering. The 3 touch up paint spray cans were well packaged though 2 of the can came with the cap and push button spray button loose in the box. Should not be an issue though. The instructions on the company website were very helpful since this was my first attempt at painting body parts to my 20 year old vehicle. I'm expect to use PaintScratch when I do some minor body work to my wife's vehicle. I'm glad PaintScratch is able to provide this service. Reason I chose this business: I used a National auto paint company for some roof repainting and a little body work on the same vehicle however within 2 years the roof and side panel began to rust again and the clear coat peeled off in over 6 large areas of the roof. I paid over $1,800 for a job result that was worse off than before it was painted. PaintScratch offered another option that was more cost effective though it does require a DIY person to take time and care with the preparation and paint application. Our family drives old vehicles (20-30 years old) which I maintain and/or repair all mechanical components. They run well. PaintScratch is providing me an opportunity to make the vehicles look a lot better now too.

Accurate Color Match

I picked my VW Beetle Red Rock color using the color code, and PaintScratch provided an accurate color paint along with the primer and clear coat. The base coat was accurate and cost less than a competitor that required a more expensive and difficult tricoat application. As a first time automotive painter, they made the selection easy and took away the guesswork in mixing in stuff like activators or reducers. The primer and base coats went on easily with a stand-alone household HVLP spray gun from Amazon, but the clear did not go on smooth. I will be doing a good amount of wet sanding and buffing to get an acceptable finish. I guess that is a down-side to the ease of not having to mix your own paint. I didn't have to learn how to mix according to the painting conditions (temperature, humidity), but that may have been the reason for the bad orange peel result. There's way more to getting good results, so the orange peel could very well have been due to bad technique. While it will take considerably more effort to get a good smooth finish, I am confident that the end result will be great and for way less money than paying for a paint job. While their tutorials for fixing scratches seem adequate, I wish they provided more instruction for spraying paint and clear coat (stirring and spraying techniques, flash times, cure times, wet sanding and buffing/polishing tips, tips for painting in less than optimum conditions, etc.).

Well worth the money

Don't get me wrong, paint pens have their place, but with the damage I was trying to repair they didn't work too well. Fortunately, I was able to empty them, and use my air brush to repair my paint. Fortunately, it's worked out well so far I just need to fine sand, compound, and polish my repair. But in my absolutely honest opinion, if you have a scratch that goes to bare metal, and it's in a place where it's easily seen; go spend $100 on a hobby airbrush, and buy a proper jar of paint. It will always come out significantly better than what you can do with paint pens. With all that said, PaintScratch has the exact paint I need for my car, and they packaged everything very well, and have a great set of instructions on the website. The kit I bought was well worth the money, just saying I wish I had got a jar rather than a paint pen. That said, this paint is really hard to clear out of an airbrush lol. But 3M adhesive remover works wonders, just a nice little tip if anyone has overspray/running/clogged stuff. Reason I chose this business: I used duplicolor on my dodge a few years back, and holy hell did that stuff look bad. Granted, my car probably had really faded clear coat, and I didn't prep right. But that stuff ran like crazy. Again, a proper air brush, even a cheap one is really the way to go, and paintscratch has the proper paint.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I choose the basecoat bottle instead of the pen or spray can?

The basecoat bottle is perfect for small to medium paint chips, scratches, or scuffs where you want more paint than a pen provides but still want detailed control. It’s a great choice for DIY users who prefer to dab or brush paint onto the surface rather than spray.

How do I apply the paint from the bottle for the best finish?

Shake the bottle well, then use the included brush to apply thin layers of paint. Alternatively, this product can be used in a spray gun for a smoother application. Once the chip or scratch is level with the surface, finish with a clearcoat bottle for a glossy, durable seal.

Do I need to use primer and clearcoat with the basecoat bottle?

For best results we recommend applying primer if bare metal or plastic is showing, then finishing with a clearcoat bottle. This ensures the color bonds properly and provides long-lasting protection against fading, peeling, and rust.

How much coverage does one basecoat bottle provide?

A single bottle provides enough paint for dozens of small chips or scratches or several medium touch-ups. It’s an economical option for anyone maintaining one or more vehicles over time.

Can I use my own applicator or brush with the bottle?

Absolutely. While most users apply paint with a fine brush, you can also use a micro applicator, toothpick, or detailing tool for added precision. This flexibility makes the bottle ideal for both small touch-ups and slightly larger surface repairs.

How do I find my vehicle’s paint code?

Your paint code is usually found in the driver’s door jamb, trunk, or under the hood. Scroll up this page for a diagram and more detailed instructions.

Will this paint match my car?

Yes. If your vehicle's color code is [COLOR CODE], this paint will be a perfect match. Every order is custom-mixed to factory specs and backed by our Color Match Guarantee.

Do I need clearcoat?

Clearcoat is essential: it protects the basecoat and restores factory gloss.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are mixed fresh and ship within 3–5 business days. Delivery takes 2–14 days depending on location.

Which touch up product should I choose?

Depending on the size of the damage, here's what we recommend:

  • Paint Pen (½ oz) – Best for very small chips and fine scratches.
  • Brush Bottle (2 oz) – Great for medium chips or scratches up to the size of a quarter.
  • Spray Can – Ideal for larger areas and panels.
  • Professional Sizes (Pint, Quart, Gallon) – Designed for full panel and vehicle resprays using spray equipment.

Not sure? If it’s just rock chips or small scratches, start with a Paint Pen.

Can I return my order?

Because paint is custom-mixed, cancellations aren’t possible. But if there’s a color match issue, we’ll give you your money back!

How long will the paint last in storage?

Paint pens and bottles last about a year if stored cool and dry. Spray cans can last several years if the nozzle is cleaned.
